Four Teenagers Killed and One Injured as Rajya Rani Express Hits Crossing in Andhra Pradesh

Four senior secondary students - Visakha Rao, Dileep, Sharath and Shiva - lost their lives when the Rajya Rani Express, heading from Bhubaneswar toward Gunupur, ran over them on a track near Burma Colony in Tekkali mandal, Srikakulam district. The victims were returning from a fishing trip and were crossing the line when the speeding train struck. A fifth student, Salman Raju, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Tekkali government hospital for treatment.

Authorities, including railway officials, police officers, and Tekkali RDO Krishnamurthy, responded promptly, securing the site and beginning rescue and relief operations. The police have registered a case and are gathering forensic evidence and witness statements to determine the exact cause of the accident. All five youths were enrolled in the Intermediate (Class 12) program and lived in the Government SC/ST Students’ Hostel.
