France faces unusually warm autumn days with temperatures soaring to 31°C

Météo France described the upcoming weekend as retaining a summer feel, with temperatures far exceeding the usual September averages. Sunday forecasts call for 25-28 °C across the southern half of the country and a peak of 31 °C in Vichy (Allier). The agency cautioned that early next week could bring a short-lived heat spike, with Monday afternoon highs of up to 29 °C in Allier and Yonne, well above the typical 22 °C for September.

Rain showers are expected in Brittany and Normandy on Monday, accompanied by possible thunderstorms along the Atlantic coast. Tuesday will see a slight temperature rise, maintaining similar maximums, and isolated showers in Perpignan. Thursday is projected to bring widespread rain, with significant accumulations in the southeast, while temperatures are expected to drop about 10 °C over the following 48 hours, returning to seasonal norms.
