France picks Andreï Zviaguintsev's Minotaure for Oscar International Feature race
The French CNC has chosen Andreï Zviaguintsev's film Minotaure, a French co-production, to represent France in the Best International Feature category at the 2027 Oscars.
The Centre national du cinéma announced that Minotaure, directed by Russian filmmaker Andreï Zviaguintsev and co-produced by French producers Charles Gillibert (CG Cinéma) and Nathanaël Karmitz (MK2 Productions), will serve as France's submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Academy Awards. The film, which earned the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, was chosen after an independent selection process, prevailing over four other French-backed titles such as La Bataille de Gaulle L'Âge de Fer, Le Corset, La Gradiva and L'inconnue.
The French entry will be sent to the Academy, which will reveal the nominees in January. Additionally, the documentary Inside Gaza, a co-production involving Arte France, one outlet and a journalist at one outlet, is among the French contenders for Best Documentary. The 99th Oscars ceremony will take place on March 14, 2027 in Los Angeles.
