The upcoming 2027 social security finance bill is expected to include a levy on sugary processed foods. The measure would apply a tax once a product exceeds a defined sugar threshold, covering items from cakes to spreads and even plain carrot purée. The proposal was disclosed by the online outlet Contexte, while the government office at Matignon declined to comment before the text is presented on Thursday.
