Franklin County coroner confirms measles-linked death amid statewide outbreak

A 39-year-old woman in Franklin County died after a recent measles infection, meeting Pennsylvania’s definition of a measles-associated death.

Coroner Jordan Connor announced that a 39-year-old woman in Franklin County died following a recent measles infection, classifying the case as a measles-associated death under Pennsylvania law. The woman had multiple pre-existing conditions, though the coroner did not disclose specifics or her vaccination status. This marks the sixth such death linked to the state’s current measles outbreak, which has produced more than 1,136 cases so far, the highest number nationwide.

Previously confirmed deaths involved unvaccinated patients in various counties, including infants in Lancaster and a young adult in Mifflin. State officials have not commented, and the coroner declined to release identifying details. The outbreak continues to affect communities across more than half of Pennsylvania, with Franklin County reporting seven cases to date.
