Fred Davis II joins Washington Commanders as undrafted free agent after college odyssey
Cornerback Fred Davis II signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent and is attending the team's training camp.
Fred Davis II, once a highly ranked high-school corner, navigated a peripatetic college path that saw him play for Clemson, UCF, Jacksonville State and Northwestern, overcoming injuries and a settled lawsuit. Following a strong 2025 season at Northwestern, he went undrafted in 2026 but attracted interest from several NFL teams before signing with Washington as an undrafted free agent. At the Commanders' training camp in Ashburn, Virginia, Davis follows a rigorous schedule that begins at 6 a.m. with tissue and activation work and continues through practice, meetings, film review and recovery.
He credits personal trainer Nate Keller for adding lean muscle and improving his durability. While competing for a roster position, Davis has been learning from veteran cornerbacks and building relationships with teammates across the roster.
