Freddie Meredith joins SNL UK cast for second season launch
Comedian Freddie Meredith has been added to the SNL UK lineup for its second season, which begins on 12 September.
Freddie Meredith, a comedian with TV credits in Big Boys and Such Brave Girls, has been confirmed as a new regular on SNL UK for its second series. His Edinburgh Fringe show "Need a Light?" was nominated for Best Newcomer, and he said signing on was a "no-brainer" because of the show's iconic status. Meredith joins the eleven original cast members, including Hammed Animashaun and Ayoade Bamgboye, who are all returning.
The season kicks off on Saturday, 12 September, featuring Jeff Goldblum as guest host and musical act CMAT. The series, which debuted to positive reception, was extended from six to eight episodes in its first run and has been praised by comedians as a major boost for British comedy.
