Freedom Flotilla vessel Kate docks in Caleta de Vélez to load aid for Gaza
The Kate, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, arrived at Caleta de Vélez harbour on 30 September to load supplies before continuing its mission to Gaza.
On 30 September the Kate, a ship linked to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, docked at Caleta de Vélez harbour to take on humanitarian supplies for Gaza. The vessel, which left Bristol in mid-August, has already visited Bilbao, Vigo and was previously delayed in Santander due to a mechanical fault. The stopover featured a public gathering with crew, charity groups, local citizens and political figures from the PSOE and Izquierda Unida, who denounced the situation in Gaza as genocide and urged an arms embargo.
Representatives of the Axarquía with Palestine platform and the citizens’ association Unadikum praised the port authorities for facilitating the event. Coalition spokesperson Elías Khoury highlighted the civilian toll in Gaza, while communications officer Frank Romano affirmed the flotilla’s resolve to proceed despite risks. The Kate will continue its circuit of the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean in an attempt to deliver aid to the besieged enclave.
