Freelance motivational speaker rearrested in Perlis after new harassment complaint

Perlis police said a 19-year-old filed another sexual-harassment report against a freelance motivational speaker, prompting his rearrest after bail expired.

Perlis police have received a second sexual-harassment complaint against a freelance motivational speaker, this time from a 19-year-old woman. Deputy Commissioner Hamzah Hashim explained that the suspect was granted bail after the first remand but was immediately rearrested by the Intelligence and Operations Unit of the Kangar district Criminal Investigation Division. The case is being pursued under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

An application for a new two-day remand was approved by Senior Assistant Registrar Mohd Amiruldin Roslan at the Kangar Court Complex. The investigating officer will bring the suspect before the Kangar Magistrate's Court tomorrow to request an extended remand for further inquiry.

Why it matters
