French administrative court denies Salah Abdeslam's request to end isolation

In a recent ruling, the Tribunal administratif de Lille refused Salah Abdeslam's petition to end his placement in isolation and to eliminate the hygiaphone barrier used during prison visits. Abdeslam, incarcerated at the high-security facility in Vendin-le-Vieil, cited severe physical and psychological impacts and expressed fear of losing his last family connections. The court concluded that there were no elements that would cast doubt on the legality of the penitentiary administration's actions, and therefore upheld the existing restrictions.

Earlier, the court had ordered a relaxation of his visitation conditions, but reversed that decision after threats toward the prison director and attempts by visitors to smuggle prohibited items. Abdeslam was convicted for providing the rental car used by the attackers and for delivering three suicide bombers to a stadium.
