French anti-corruption unit raids nuclear maintenance firms over alleged EDF collusion
Several nuclear maintenance companies and EDF staff homes were searched Tuesday as part of a PNF probe into suspected cartel behavior and corruption harming EDF.
On Tuesday, the Parquet national financier launched extensive searches of several companies operating in nuclear-plant maintenance and of private homes belonging to EDF personnel. Prosecutors say the inquiry focuses on possible organized-crime corruption and anti-competitive agreements that could have disadvantaged EDF in securing maintenance contracts. The probe also looks at allegations of fraud, money-laundering and illicit enrichment.
The raids were executed by the Grenoble research section together with the Direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes and the national police unit of the gendarmerie, supported by multiple regional gendarmerie groups. Authorities deployed significant resources, reflecting the seriousness of the suspected wrongdoing. The investigation remains open as officials continue to gather evidence.
Why it matters
