French Gaza Friendly label maps shops that boycott Israeli-linked products

A new French app called Gaza Friendly certifies retailers that refuse Coca-Cola, Pepsi and goods from Israeli settlements, listing about 80 businesses.

The Gaza Friendly label, created in June 2025 by Lyon-based pediatrician Pierre-Amael Noailly Charny and a small team, certifies French retailers that stop selling Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and fresh items sourced from Israeli settlements. Identified by a heart-shaped Palestinian flag icon, the app currently lists around 80 shops—including butchers, bakeries, restaurants and distributors—and offers an interactive map for consumers.

Shop owners like Akli of Aid Boucherie Halal in Creteil say their business is doing as well or better after dropping the targeted brands. Gaza Friendly cites the BDS movement’s strategy of cutting resources to the occupation and supplies merchants with promotional materials and suggestions for substitute products, highlighting Palestinian-origin brands such as Pales Drinks and Palestine Cola, the latter sold by online retailer Jebalia. The initiative also partners with solidarity events and seeks to expand internationally, already counting members in about 15 countries.

Why it matters

It shows how consumer choices are being organized to support Palestinian solidarity through targeted boycotts in France.
