French interior ministry moves to dissolve Alain Soral's far-right association

Alain Soral says the French interior ministry has notified him of a plan to dissolve his group Égalité et Réconciliation, accusing it of spreading national-socialist ideas.

Alain Soral, a controversial essayist living in exile in Russia, posted on X that the French interior ministry has issued a formal notice to dissolve his association Égalité et Réconciliation, which he created in 2007 and still presides over. The ministry’s letter claims the organization effectively disseminates a national-socialist ideology, citing a 2013 passage in which Soral describes himself as "national-socialist" and labeling the group’s purpose as the promotion of his ideas.

Authorities say the association spreads discriminatory and violent rhetoric toward Jews, immigrants, women and the LGBT community. The dissolution request also encompasses the group’s media arms - the magazine Faits & Documents, the publishing house Kontre Kulture, the radio Écoute et Respect, and a linked association, ERFM, headed by Julien Limes. A source within the ministry confirmed that a contradictory procedure is underway, after which the dissolution could be finalized. Soral’s legal team has filed observations within the ten-day window, while he denounced the action as an attempt to “kill” his association and warned it may force him further underground.
