French interior ministry opens multiple probes after nationwide protests
The interior ministry announced several investigations following a night of calm after large-scale demonstrations across France.
Authorities reported that the recent protests, which saw hundreds of thousands gather, were largely peaceful during the night. The ministry said it has opened several investigations into the events. It recorded 289 public-road actions and noted that 441 separate gatherings took place. Security forces escorted the organized routes in coordination with local officials.
Why it matters
The probes will determine whether any illegal activity occurred during the large protests and shape future security measures.
