Friend who helped hide 4-year-old Megan Khung's body pleads guilty to abuse conspiracy
Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi admitted guilt for assisting Foo Li Ping and Wong Shi Xiang in disposing of four-year-old Megan Khung’s corpse and for participating in the abuse conspiracy.
Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi pleaded guilty on Monday to charges that included conspiracy to commit child abuse, disposal of a corpse and drug consumption, after helping Foo Li Ping and Wong Shi Xiang hide the body of four-year-old Megan Khung. Megan had endured more than a year of severe mistreatment by her mother and her mother's boyfriend, culminating in a fatal punch to her stomach in February 2020. Court proceedings featured graphic video clips of the abuse, some filmed by Chua, which the judge described as extremely distressing.
The trio had later burned the child’s remains in a metal barrel and scattered the ashes at East Coast Park, where the body was never recovered. Foo and Wong have already received lengthy prison terms, prompting the Ministry of Social and Family Development to launch a review and propose a new social-services coordination centre. Chua now faces a possible seven-year sentence for her role in the disposal of the corpse.
