From Unvaccinated Upbringing to Science Advocate, Liz Marnik Shares Her Journey
Elisabeth Marnik, a Ph.D. immunologist and social-media educator, now leads The Evidence Collective and promotes empathetic vaccine communication.
Elisabeth Marnik grew up in a Connecticut town where her mother avoided all vaccines due to religious distrust of science. At 23 she sought vaccination at a travel clinic, later completing the series and eventually earning a Ph.D. in immunology. Motherhood in 2019, including a complicated delivery and blood transfusions, deepened her empathy for vaccine-hesitant families.
She now runs a popular Instagram account and Substack, reaching tens of thousands with science stories drawn from her own life. Since February she has served as executive director of The Evidence Collective, coordinating scientists and content creators to break echo chambers and craft faith-aligned messaging. Marnik argues that respectful conversation, not condemnation, is essential for public-health progress.
