Fromm Family Foods recalls thousands of canned dog meals over metal contamination

Fromm Family Foods announced a voluntary recall of approximately 5,800 cases of two canned dog food lines after receiving complaints of metal contamination. The affected products are Fromm Turkey Pâté (12.2-ounce cans, UPC 072705118700, lot EP2A3306 551006) and Fromm Milo's Meatloaf Pâté (12.5-ounce cans, UPC 072705132324, lot EP2A3306 551029), both marked with a best-by date of March 2029. Distributed across pet stores and e-commerce platforms in the United States and Canada, the foods have not been tied to any reported injuries, yet metal fragments can cause choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or more serious gastrointestinal damage.

Fromm indicated it has pinpointed the error that led to the recall and implemented corrective measures, though it did not disclose the contamination source. The company urges consumers to cease feeding the recalled cans, return them to retailers, and contact a veterinarian if their pets exhibit symptoms. This recall follows a separate incident involving a UK pet-food subscription service that halted most of its fresh meals amid reports of eye problems in dogs.
