FSSAI orders halt to CG Foods' Veg Bhujia production and seizes large stock
India's food regulator FSSAI has instructed CG Foods India Pvt Ltd to stop making Veg Bhujia Namkeen after finding hygiene breaches and unlicensed manufacturing, and has confiscated a substantial amount of product.
FSSAI conducted a compliance check at CG Foods India Pvt Ltd's facility in Roopangarh, Ajmer, uncovering multiple infractions such as unsafe processing practices, lack of proper licences for bhujia manufacturing, and the use of pre-dated packaging. Inspectors found that broken noodles collected from the floor were being re-processed into bhujia without any heat treatment, and that the company was producing "Wai-Wai MaMa" and "Wai-Wai Mama Punte" without the required approvals, violating Section 31(1) of the Food Safety Act, 2006.
The regulator seized a considerable amount of product, including loose broken noodles and over a thousand boxes of expired finished goods, and collected samples for laboratory testing. FSSAI also cited deficiencies in pest-control documentation and overall hygiene records. The agency has ordered the cessation of Veg Bhujia Namkeen production and warned of further legal steps pending lab results.
