FSSAI revokes Seven Seas Hospitality licence after severe hygiene violations
India's food regulator suspended Seven Seas Hospitality's licence, citing a 30% compliance score and serious sanitation failures.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd after an inspection revealed a compliance score of only 30 percent. Inspectors observed water stagnation, foul odour, filth and insufficient housekeeping in food preparation areas. They identified deteriorated food materials, such as fungal growth on tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts, alongside rotten capsicum and degraded cooking oils.
Serious storage deficiencies were noted, including inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and pest control failures manifested by cockroaches and house flies. Additional shortcomings involved lack of basic infrastructure, poor record maintenance and inadequate water testing. FSSAI officials destroyed 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food and ordered the company to cease all food business activities during the suspension.
