FSSAI serves over 150 notices to major food and beverage brands for false ads and labeling breaches
India's food regulator has dispatched more than 150 notices to companies like Nestle India, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola India for misleading marketing and labeling violations.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India reported that it has issued more than 150 notices to food business operators for breaches involving misleading ads, false claims and labeling non-compliance. Among the entities cited are Nestle India, PepsiCo, Abbott India Ltd, Red Bull India, Danone India, Monster Energy India, Hell Energy, Mondelez India, Coca-Cola India, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Ferrero India and Kenvue Inc. Enforcement also extended to e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart, with Amazon losing a warehouse licence, and to over 30 food service outlets including KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Costa Coffee, resulting in five Domino’s licences being suspended. Product seizures have been carried out against several companies, and the regulator noted that many firms are now undertaking corrective actions following the notices.
