According to ADAC data, the average diesel price on Monday was €2.417 per litre and Super E10 €2.285, with a regional spread of about €0.15 per litre. The highest prices were observed in eastern towns like Frankfurt (Oder), Cottbus, Potsdam, Zwickau, Dresden and Halle, while Bavarian cities such as Ingolstadt, Fürth, Regensburg, Munich and Nuremberg fell below the national average. Proximity to cheaper fuel in Poland and the Czech Republic influences cross-border purchasing.
Taxes and the CO2 levy together represent roughly €1.10 to €1.20 of each litre’s price, making them the dominant component of fuel costs. Without these charges, the base price would be around €1.10 for E10 and €1.35 for diesel, covering oil, processing, transport and retail margins. Brandenburg Minister-President Dietmar Woidke has called for a price cap, arguing that high fuel costs burden commuters while oil companies reap large profits.
