Fugitive George Dib captured in Lebanon amid alleged global drug network
Australian authorities say George Dib was arrested in Lebanon and is suspected of coordinating international drug shipments to Australia.
After vanishing in 2013, George Dib was apprehended by Lebanon’s Internal Security Force during a nocturnal operation, according to one outlet media. The Australian Federal Police claim he directed a global organised crime operation that arranged multiple cocaine shipments to Australia for roughly 11 years. Authorities also seized around a dozen suspects linked to Sydney’s criminal scene, including Lebanese fugitives Bilal Haouchar and Rafat Alameddine, the latter wanted for two murders.
The capture resulted from one outlet-provided intelligence under Operation Gain, the same unit that dismantled the “Aussie Cartel” in 2023. Dib’s father, a service-station owner, is not implicated. The case highlights ongoing cooperation between Australian and Lebanese law-enforcement agencies.
