Fugitive linked to 2012 Iowa kidnapping arrested after 14 years in San Diego
Brian Anthony Williams, wanted for a 2012 kidnapping and shooting in Iowa, was captured by US Marshals in Mission Beach, California, where he had been living under an alias and working as a chef.
The US Marshals Service announced the arrest of Brian Anthony Williams, 50, who had been on the run since a 2012 Davenport kidnapping and shooting. The alleged crime involved abducting a woman, assaulting her, shooting her and dumping her in a field, with additional charges of arson. After fleeing Iowa in 2013, Williams adopted the alias Troy Williams, worked as a chef in San Diego, and even featured in local newspaper and television profiles describing his upbringing in Queensbridge, New York.
A September tip enabled marshals to locate him at a Mission Beach business on the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard, where they took him into custody. He is charged with first-degree kidnapping, assault causing serious injury, conspiracy to commit a felony, first-degree arson and unlawful flight, and will be extradited to Iowa to face the 2012 case.
