Future king launches £250,000 fund for Princetown regeneration

Prince William is scheduled to travel to Princetown to launch the Princetown Community Fund, earmarking a minimum of £250,000 for locally driven social, economic and environmental projects. The financing comes from the £1.5 million yearly rent the Duchy of Cornwall has been receiving from the empty Dartmoor Prison, a sum William asked to divert from his heir-to-the-throne income starting in 2026-27. The fund, administered by Devon Communities Together, will offer grants ranging from £500 to £40,000 and provide assistance to organisations applying for support.

This initiative builds on the Duchy’s pledge to spend more than £500 million in the next ten years on community development, housing, renewable energy, resilient farming and environmental restoration. While in Princetown, William will visit the Gather & Moor cultural hub, meet representatives from the heritage publisher Princetown Press, and see the youth club that recently received Duchy funding for upgrades. The launch coincides with the Duke of Sussex’s 42nd birthday, though William has not commented on his brother’s return to the UK.
