Gang steals 800 barrels of Guinness from Runcorn depot, police launch hunt
Police are searching for a group that stole two trailers loaded with 800 barrels of Guinness, valued at about £205,000, from a depot in Runcorn.
Cheshire Police are investigating a bold robbery in which two HGV trailers containing a total of 800 barrels of Guinness were taken from a depot in the Aston Lane area of Runcorn on the night of 31 August. The first vehicle arrived around 7:45 p.m., linked to a trailer and left the site at about 7:55 p.m. heading toward the Mersey Gateway. A second vehicle arrived at 9:12 p.m., attached to another loaded trailer and departed around 9:30 p.m. toward Rainhill and Watkinson Way.
The stolen goods are estimated to be worth roughly £205,000. Police described the trailers as white tri-axle curtain-side models with GXO branding, and the drivers as men, one with a short dark beard and a beanie, the other wearing a cap. Detective Sergeant McClatchy emphasized the need for a swift recovery and asked motorists to review any dash-cam recordings that might help identify the thieves.
