Gardaí carried out an intelligence-driven operation on Wednesday that led to the arrest of four men and the confiscation of large drug quantities, including cocaine, heroin and magic mushrooms, with an estimated street value exceeding €2 million. The raid was a joint effort by regional garda units from the Northwestern, Eastern and Dublin Metropolitan regions and the national drugs and organised crime bureau. Cash of €34,300 and several vehicles were also recovered.
Two of the suspects, aged in their 20s and 40s, have been charged with drug trafficking and money-laundering and have appeared before Kilkenny District Court and the Criminal Courts of Justice District Court. The remaining two men, including a suspect in his 60s, are being held at garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, and investigations continue.
