Garmin unveils Fenix 9 series with ultra-bright OLED screens and faster map navigation

Garmin introduced its latest Fenix 9 series, offering OLED displays capable of 3,000 nits of brightness, which is double that of the previous generation. The base 43 mm model starts at $999.99 and provides 64 GB of storage, a 50 % RAM increase, and a new map engine that enables smoother panning. New software functions such as Garmin Epic compile multi-day workout data, while stamina metrics and customizable rucking weight enhance training options.

The Fenix 9 promises up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on the 51 mm case, and the Fenix 9 Pro, starting at $1,099.99, adds a titanium case, optional InReach satellite or LTE for an extra $100 plus a $7.99 monthly fee, and a larger 1.5-inch OLED screen on the biggest model. Solar-charged versions of the 47 mm and 51 mm Pro models can extend battery life to 57 days under specific sunlight conditions. The devices become orderable on August 28 and are available in multiple case and band colors.
