Gas Prices Near $4.10 Gallon as 31 States Top $4 Mark

According to AAA, the United States saw its national average price for regular gasoline rise to $4.097 per gallon, a modest gain from $4.065 the previous week. The uptick has resulted in 31 states now reporting statewide averages above $4 per gallon. Summer price swings have been linked to the military conflict with Iran and related geopolitical strains around the Strait of Hormuz.
Since the low of $2.79 per gallon in January, the average has more than doubled, reaching a peak of $4.56 in May. California remains the most expensive state at $5.623 per gallon, followed by Hawaii and Washington, while Indiana records the lowest average at $3.49, with Texas and several Southern states trailing closely behind.
