GCash targets top-ten status with landmark Philippine Stock Exchange debut

GCash is set to launch an IPO that could place it among the ten most valuable firms on the Philippine Stock Exchange, leveraging its 41.5 million monthly users.

GCash will debut on the Philippine Stock Exchange with an offering that could surpass historic openings, valuing the company at about P442 billion and placing it in the exchange’s top ten by market cap. The fintech firm, which recorded 41.5 million monthly active users in Q2, operates with minimal physical assets, relying mainly on cash, trust funds and receivables. Its price-to-earnings multiple of roughly 24.6 times exceeds the broader index, setting a high benchmark for performance.

The IPO arrives as the PSE grapples with a limited number of listings and a dominance of asset-heavy sectors. Although the move may inject new dynamism, the exchange’s requirement for cumulative net income could deter other high-growth startups. Meanwhile, rivals like Maya are planning their own public offerings in the coming years.

Why it matters

The IPO could reshape the Philippine market by introducing a high-growth, digital-focused company to a traditionally asset-heavy exchange.
