Genesis unveils flagship electric SUV with luxury features inspired by Chinese EVs
Genesis introduced the GV90, its first full-size electric SUV, offering high-end amenities such as heated wood floors and swivel seats, and also revealed a more lavish GV90 Neolun variant.
Genesis, the luxury arm of Hyundai Motor Group, launched the GV90, its inaugural full-size electric SUV, entering the market segment occupied by models such as the Cadillac Escalade IQ, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV and Lucid Gravity. The company also presented the GV90 Neolun, a top-tier version that eliminates the fixed B-pillar, features rear-hinged coach doors and allows the front seats to rotate 180 degrees for a lounge-style interior.
The Neolun "Executive Suite" configuration seats four and adds a refrigerator, tables, privacy blinds and a six-zone adjustable glass roof, while the second row boasts heated real-wood flooring inspired by Korea's ondol heating. Standard GV90 specifications include an estimated 310-mile range and the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes on a 350-kilowatt charger, plus massaging seats. Genesis highlighted that such amenity-rich EVs are typical in China's luxury market, citing examples from NIO and Zeekr. Pricing for the U.S. market has not yet been disclosed.
Why it matters
The launch shows Genesis competing in the growing luxury electric SUV market with features that could set new standards for comfort and technology.
