Genon launches AI-driven inspection and automation projects for Nike in Indonesia
Genon has received validation for its AI vision system used to inspect Nike footwear in Indonesia and secured additional contracts for broader quality checks and robotic automation.
Genon announced that its AI vision inspection system cleared final validation for Nike footwear production after demonstrating defect detection on outsoles in a real-world factory setting. The company is now preparing production-ready models for deployment beginning in 2027, with plans to expand the technology across multiple product lines and facilities. A new contract will extend AI inspection to shoe uppers, employing ultra-high-resolution imaging to spot subtle stitching and bonding flaws.
Additionally, Genon secured a project that combines collaborative robots with vision cameras to automate repetitive outsole-pressing operations, allowing robots to recognize workpieces and learn tasks from remote human demonstrations. The Indonesian subsidiary, launched this year, aims for profitability in its first year while pursuing further local opportunities. Beyond footwear, Genon is developing an AI solution for IKM Group to analyze ship documents and generate work-planning reports.
Why it matters
The rollout could modernize footwear manufacturing, improving quality control and productivity in Indonesia.
