George Norcross pledges $100 million to his birthplace hospital, Cooper University Health Care

George Norcross, chairman of the insurance brokerage Conner Strong & Buckelew and a dominant New Jersey political operative, revealed a $100 million pledge to Cooper University Health Care in Camden, the largest donation the health system has ever received. All four Norcross brothers were born at Cooper, creating a multigenerational link that spans more than one-third of the hospital’s 139-year history. The contribution, made in memory of his late father, a former board member, and his mother, a senior-services advocate, will carry the Norcross name, though the exact buildings or programs remain unspecified.

The funding aligns with Cooper’s $3 billion expansion plan and reinforces its status as the only state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center in South Jersey, employing about 14,000 workers.
