Georgia Election Committee Reviews Vendor Proposals for New Voting System

State legislators in Georgia evaluated four voting-equipment vendors on Thursday, discussing certification, security and the move toward hand-marked paper ballots.

At the Georgia State Capitol, a committee led by Sen. Max Burns and Rep. Victor Anderson listened to pitches from four election-technology firms. Voting Works’ Ben Adida stressed the company’s VVSG 2.0 certification and its plan to shift to hand-marked paper ballots with on-site printing. Liberty Vote, represented by Scott Leiendecker and Bryan Hoffman, promoted its Frontier system, noting current VVSG 1.1 certification and pending testing for VVSG 2.0 compliance.

KNOWiNK highlighted its federally-certified electronic poll book and security-focused design, while Clear Ballot’s Helen Michaud spoke about its development around paper ballots and ongoing certification efforts. Civera’s Adam Friedman described tools for public ballot reporting and engagement. The legislators clarified they are evaluating technical features and benefits, with a final system selection to follow after the next meeting on Oct. 29.

Why it matters

The committee's choices will determine how millions of Georgians cast votes in upcoming elections.
