Georgia gubernatorial hopeful Keisha Lance Bottoms warns of a ‘post-traumatic slave mentality’ among Black women

During the Radiian Conversations gathering, Democratic nominee for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms warned that Black women have been shaped by a ‘post-traumatic slave mentality,’ urging them to support one another rather than chase rapid individual success. She highlighted Georgia’s current challenges, including soaring grocery and health-care expenses, and noted that half a million residents have declined coverage under the recent health-care law.

Bottoms contrasted President Joe Biden’s achievements with President Donald Trump’s record, calling the latter a disaster for the state’s economy and social safety nets. She reiterated her campaign’s focus on lowering costs for families and restoring community support. The remarks were also featured in an interview on one outlet’s OutFront, where she reaffirmed her opposition to Trump’s policies.
