Gerindra tops latest voter preference poll ahead of Indonesia's 2029 elections

A recent Indonesia Political Opinion survey shows Gerindra leading voter preference at 23.1%, followed by PDI-P and Golkar.

Indonesia Political Opinion released a survey covering October 12-20, 2026, to assess public sentiment two years into the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration. Gerindra emerged as the most preferred party for the upcoming DPR election, registering 23.1% support. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle and Golkar followed with 11.6% and 10.7% respectively, while all other parties fell below the 10% threshold.

About one-fifth of those polled either remained undecided or refused to answer. The study involved 1,200 respondents selected via multistage random sampling, carrying a 2.9-point margin of error at a 95% confidence level. Findings align with an August Tempo Data Science poll that also placed Gerindra ahead, though at a slightly lower 20% share. Gerindra’s spokesperson emphasized that such surveys are feedback tools rather than predictors of election outcomes.

Why it matters

The poll indicates shifting public backing ahead of Indonesia's 2029 legislative elections, influencing party strategies.
