German foreign minister urges data sharing on Ukrainian men in Germany to aid Kyiv

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul told one outlet's podcast that Berlin could supply Kyiv with details on Ukrainian men of military age who are currently residing in Germany, such as welfare recipients and registered residents. He argued this information would allow the Ukrainian authorities to summon those individuals for military service and said the idea merits discussion. Wadephul added that Germany expects Ukraine to place more defence contracts with German firms, criticizing the present level of orders.

He emphasized Germany's role as a major financial and military supporter of Ukraine and suggested the German defence industry should benefit accordingly. A day earlier, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany would provide part of its PAC-2 missile stock for Ukraine's Patriot air-defence system, urging a pro-Ukraine stance in security decisions.
