German suspects detained in Germany for alleged arson of Bulgarian Starlink station
Two 19-year-old German citizens were taken into custody in Duisburg after being linked to a fire that destroyed several Starlink antennas near Sofia.
German authorities in Düsseldorf announced the detention of Tirpan B. and Zeka I., both born in 2007, after they were identified as the perpetrators of a blaze that hit the Teleport Plana Starlink facility south of Sofia. The Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Düsseldorf reported that the pair were brought before the Amtsgericht Duisburg, which imposed pre-trial detention while the Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf reviews the case.
Bulgarian prosecutors had already charged the suspects in absentia and secured European arrest warrants, which led to their capture in Germany. The incident resulted in three antennas being fully consumed by fire and additional equipment suffering damage. Investigations link the suspects to a broader pattern of attacks on Starlink infrastructure across Europe, with similar incidents reported in Poland, Lithuania and Switzerland, and authorities suspect involvement of organized crime groups tied to the Turkish “Daltons" and possible Russian intelligence interest.
