German truck maker to build new component plant in Oradea, creating hundreds of jobs

Schmitz Cargobull will purchase land in Oradea to construct a new factory for semi-trailer components and complete vehicle assembly, generating at least 200 jobs.

Oradea’s municipal council authorized the transfer of an 11.75-hectare site in the Eurobusiness IV park to Schmitz Cargobull Oradea Components SRL, a subsidiary of the German semi-trailer manufacturer. The firm intends to build a sizable plant for chassis sub-assemblies and complete truck assembly, with construction possibly starting in summer 2027 and production commencing in 2028. The project is expected to add at least 200 jobs to the local economy.

The land purchase will be financed through equal annual installments over a 25-year period. Schmitz Cargobull already operates a 6,000-square-metre rented hall in Romania, where it began production in January 2026, and the new facility will significantly expand its capacity.

Why it matters

The new plant will boost Romania's manufacturing sector and create hundreds of jobs in the region.
