German youth mobilize online to echo violent French student protests

Migrant and left-wing youths in Germany are using social media to coordinate violent actions modeled on recent French student riots.

In Germany, migrant and left-leaning youths are forming an online movement that seeks to replicate the violent student protests that erupted in France’s suburban areas. Using Telegram, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram and Reddit, they organize under the hashtag #GenZregelt and share videos urging participation in planned nationwide clashes. Although the group publicly brands itself as peaceful and democratic, leaked chats show the trade of fireworks, firecrackers and homemade bomb-like devices.

Prominent Berlin rapper Pashanim posted an Instagram clip endorsing the upcoming demonstrations. Police confirmed a recent blockade in front of a French lycée in Berlin-Schöneberg, and further actions are being prepared. The initiative mixes anti-school slogans with pro-Palestinian messages, reflecting a broader politicised agenda.

Why it matters

The spread of coordinated violent protests across borders could destabilize public order in multiple European cities.
