Germany and Ukraine sign pact to boost joint counter-drone capabilities

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement in Kyiv to deepen cooperation on counter-UAV measures.

During a press conference in Kyiv, the German chancellor announced a new deal with President Zelensky aimed at sharing Ukraine's battlefield experience against drones. The pact calls for joint research, joint ventures and technology exchange between German and Ukrainian defence firms. Merz highlighted that the need for such collaboration was underscored by Russia's strike on Leipzig Airport in early August.
