Germany approves purchase of Finnish Jehu combat boats from Marine Alutech

Germany's Bundestag budget and defence committees gave the green light for a procurement of up to 15 Jehu combat boats built by Finland's Marine Alutech. The agreement starts with ten vessels and grants an option for five more, and it bundles related training, outfitting and maintenance services. Part of the production, overhaul and support work is slated to occur at German shipyards in Kiel.

Each Jehu, just under 20 metres long, can transport a crew of 25 soldiers with their gear. The German navy evaluated the Jehu alongside the CB90 class before selecting the Finnish design. The overall contract value has not been disclosed in detail.
