Ghana reinstates Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars
The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that Carlos Queiroz will return as manager of the men's national team.
Carlos Queiroz, aged 73, has been reappointed as head coach of Ghana's men's national team by the Ghana Football Association. Although he appeared to signal his exit on social media after the team's 1-0 defeat to Colombia at this year's World Cup, the GFA opted to retain him following internal deliberations. Queiroz previously led Ghana to the round of 32 and has managed several national sides, including Iran, Portugal and Egypt, at major tournaments.
The federation did not specify the length of his new deal but praised his technical expertise and global experience. He will now oversee the Black Stars' qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with the first matches against Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia yet to be scheduled.
Why it matters
Ghana's decision on its national coach shapes the team's preparation for upcoming continental qualifiers.
