Giants and Cowboys to stage extensive 9/11 tribute before primetime clash
The Giants-Cowboys Sunday Night Football game will open with a multi-part ceremony honoring 9/11 victims, featuring first-responders, a moment of silence and special performances at MetLife Stadium.
Ahead of the primetime Giants-Cowboys matchup, MetLife Stadium will host a comprehensive 9/11 remembrance ceremony. NYPD, FDNY and PAPD personnel, together with relatives of those lost, will form a gauntlet for the teams and lead a moment of silence, a photo tribute, and a "Tribute in Light" display. The national anthem will be performed by members of the police and fire departments, followed by a New Jersey State Police helicopter flyover.
A ceremonial FDNY Ladder 343 fire truck and a World Trade Center steel beam from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation will be presented at the stadium entrance. Former Giants members Jesse Armstead, Tiki Barber, Kerry Collins and Jason Sehorn will chant with responders, and the Palumbo family will act as honorary captains for the coin toss, recognizing their father's sacrifice. Limited-edition hats supporting first-responder agencies will be sold in the team store.
