Girl’s leg crushed by bus wheel after collision at Budapest’s Vezér-Fogarasi intersection

A child was struck by a 144 bus turning onto Fogarasi út in Zugló, and the vehicle’s rear wheel ran over her leg.

At the busy Vezér utca-Fogarasi út junction in Budapest’s Zugló district, a mother and her two children were riding bicycles from the Füredi út direction toward Mogyoródi út. While the mother crossed the pedestrian crossing on a green light, the daughter attempted to follow and was struck by the side of a 144 bus turning right onto Fogarasi út. The impact knocked her to the ground, and the bus’s rear wheel subsequently rolled over her leg, inflicting severe injuries.

The boy behind them also proceeded after the mother. The accident adds to a series of serious collisions at this intersection, which has previously seen a fatal bus-related crash in 2012, another in 2013, and a 2023 death involving a BKV 231 bus. Authorities from the BRFK, BKK and the Országos Mentőszolgálat have been contacted for comment.
