American security consultancy Global Guardians published its 2027 Global Risk Map, evaluating countries on crime, armed conflict, terrorism, political unrest, healthcare, infrastructure and natural disasters. The assessment puts Iran, Yemen, Sudan, the entirety of Ukraine and Russia’s bordering territories in the extreme-risk bracket. Europe dominates the low-risk side, with Switzerland, Norway and Denmark among the safest.
The United States and the United Kingdom are classified as moderate risk, while the Mexican side of the border is flagged as extreme. Gulf states such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman are rated medium risk. The map also highlights extreme-risk zones in north-central Africa, including Nigeria’s bandit-ridden areas, and notes ongoing conflicts in Ethiopia and the Tigray region.
