Global investors anchor NSE's multi-billion-rupee IPO with record share allocation

In a recent allocation, the National Stock Exchange of India distributed 37.79 million shares at a price of ₹1,785 each to 189 anchor investors, totaling ₹6,746.18 crore. LIC, the exchange’s largest shareholder, secured the biggest single stake, with Societe Generale’s offshore derivative desk and Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global also taking sizable positions. Offshore institutions collectively contributed 43 % of the anchor funding, whereas domestic mutual funds provided close to 37 % through 29 funds across 98 schemes.
Additional participation came from insurance companies, pension funds and the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Monsoon fund. The anchor demand was estimated at around ₹1.2 trillion, roughly twenty times the allocated amount. The full ₹22,560 crore IPO, consisting solely of an offer-for-sale, is set to open for public subscription on Thursday, with listing expected the following week and a grey-market premium near 9 %.
