Global protests planned to back Palestine and oppose war in the Middle East

Activists are organizing mass demonstrations in cities worldwide on Saturday to show solidarity with Palestine and denounce war in Iran and the broader region.

A coordinated wave of protests is set for Saturday across major cities including São Paulo, Sydney, Tokyo, Cairo, London, New York, Madrid and Berlin, among others. Demonstrators intend to block a UN session in New York, display Palestinian flags in Madrid, and have German students oppose military recruitment. In the Mediterranean, dockworkers are preparing a strike for the end of the month.

Organizers cite the resilience of the Palestinian resistance and aim to challenge the policies of leaders they associate with the war in Iran, the Gaza conflict, and broader Western military actions. They also demand the cancellation of the “Shield of Achilles” agreement, reallocation of funds to health and education, and the dissolution of NATO bases. The movement calls for an end to US-Israel cooperation and envisions a binational Palestine from river to sea.

Why it matters

The protests reflect growing international opposition to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and could pressure governments to alter foreign-policy stances.
