Global University Leaders Gather in Hong Kong to Spotlight Northern Metropolis University Town
The Global University Presidents and Leaders Summit will be held Oct 27-28 at Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibition Centre, focusing on the Northern Metropolis University Town and featuring over 50 universities from more than 20 regions.
The Hong Kong Association for External Friendship announced that the Global University Presidents and Leaders Summit will take place on October 27-28 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre. The gathering will bring together leaders from more than 50 prestigious universities across over 20 countries and regions, including representatives from Harvard and Cambridge, to discuss the Northern Metropolis University Town (NMUT).
Presidents of ten local Hong Kong universities will each host a panel, and the event’s founder and CEO, Priscilla Leung, highlighted that many attendees are familiar with the Greater Bay Area but lack detailed knowledge of NMUT, which the summit seeks to remedy through extensive dialogue and networking activities. Leung, also a lawmaker, emphasized the opportunity to create an exchange platform for ongoing cooperation among the institutions.
Government officials will join to present the overall Northern Metropolis development, and ancillary sessions will focus on youth development and Hong Kong’s status as an international legal hub. This biannual summit, first held in 2024, will also feature dinners and additional forums for deeper engagement.
