Globo and Ay Yapim seal three-title deal, launching Turkish version of Brazil's 'Looks & Essence'

Globo and Turkish producer Ay Yapim have renewed their partnership with a three-title agreement that includes a Turkish adaptation of the Brazilian telenovela 'Looks & Essence' set to debut on Now in September.

Globo, the leading media group in Latin America, and Turkish drama powerhouse Ay Yapim have extended their collaboration with a fresh three-title agreement that includes a Turkish adaptation of Globo's hit telenovela 'Looks & Essence,' titled 'Ömür Usta,' slated for a September premiere on the Now free-to-air channel. The partnership builds on the earlier Ay Yapim adaptation 'Leyla,' based on Globo's 'Brazil Avenue,' which Madd Entertainment has sold to more than 100 markets worldwide.

Veteran Ay Yapim creative Hilal Siral, known for series such as 'Fatmagül' and 'Kara Sevda,' will direct 'Ömür Usta.' Globo's head of international business Angela Colla said the alliance demonstrates the universal nature of Brazilian narratives and the company's openness to new business models. Madd Entertainment will manage global distribution for all three new adaptations, and Globo indicated the series could also be streamed on Globoplay and its Novelas TV channel. The deal reflects the expanding influence of Turkish telenovelas across Latin America, Spain and Italy, and Globo's broader strategy of format sales and co-productions with partners like one outlet and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Why it matters

The deal shows how Brazilian stories are being reshaped for new markets, expanding cultural exchange and revenue for both media giants.
