Globo and Endemol Shine Brasil team up to launch global-focused entertainment formats

Globo and Endemol Shine Brasil, part of Banijay Latin America, have signed a non-scripted IP partnership to create new Brazilian franchises with worldwide appeal.

Globo and Endemol Shine Brasil, a Banijay Latin America unit, have entered a strategic non-scripted IP alliance aimed at developing the next generation of Brazilian entertainment franchises that can succeed both at home and abroad. The deal expands on earlier joint successes like Big Brother Brasil, No Limite, The Masked Singer, Dança dos Famosos and The Wall. Under the pact, Globo secures priority exploitation rights for the formats on its TV channels and streaming services, whereas Endemol Shine Brasil will leverage Banijay Entertainment’s worldwide network of over 170 labels across 25 markets to push the shows internationally.

CEOs Nani Freitas and Amauri Soares said the collaboration merges Globo’s massive domestic audience—over 70 million daily viewers—with Banijay’s global reach. Banijay Latin America CEO Laurens Drillich praised the opportunity to work with a major local player. Both companies will promote the venture at Mipcom, which runs from October 10-15.

Why it matters

The deal could turn Brazilian TV concepts into global hits, boosting the country's cultural export and creating new revenue streams.
